Join exhibiting filmmaker Jodie Mack in making your own 'direct film'.

Get experimental like Len Lye and the artists in the exhibition Free Radicals: Cinema on the Wrong Side of the Tracks and join Jodie Mack, filmmaker and Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies Dartmouth College, as she leads a workshop making your own ‘direct’ film.

In this workshop students will learn to manipulate the surface of the film using a variety of direct filmmaking techniques: painting, scratching, and masking in order to create an experimental film on 16mm. Participants will walk away with hands-on experience of direct filmmaking and the knowledge to continue to work in this practice at home. All materials are provided.
