Changeover
Changeover
The Govett-Brewster team delivers more than a dozen exhibitions throughout the year. Because of this, we need to close parts of the gallery at times to accommodate exhibition changeovers, generally around April, August and November, though the gallery remains open 364 days a year.
Our specialist exhibition crew generally work in one part of the building at a time, ensuring we meet strict health and safety requirements while working to minimise the impact on those visiting the gallery.
The exhibition changeover process can be very complex, involving the care and protection of outgoing and incoming artworks, preparation and hanging to meet the vision of the artists and curators, often constructing and painting temporary walls within the exhibition space, adjusting lighting and technology and developing signage to ensure the exhibitions are presented in the best way possible. The video below has some more information on what’s involved with changing an exhibition.
