Paul's poetry provides the catalyst for a collection of new moving image works by six artists: Nova Paul, Rachel Shearer, Sonya Lacey, Miranda Parkes, Shannon Te Ao and the collective Popular Productions.
At the heart of the Len Lye Centre's cinema programme is the return of the Govett-Brewster's Projection Series - our quarterly film programme surveying the landscape of historical and contemporary fine art filmmaking.
Six Artists Respond to the Poetry of Joanna Margaret Paul, the second in our series, presents an ambitious range of new moving-image commissions shot at home, in industrial space, nature and using a microscope within salt letter form.
Each film is inspired by a selection of Paul's poetry, celebrating the resonance of her work and offering the catalyst for a collection of new work by a range of contemporary New Zealand artists.
Total running time: 60 minutes.
