Deep in the forests of Piedmont, Italy, a handful of men, seventy or eighty years old, hunt for the rare and expensive white Alba truffle-which to date has resisted all of modern science's efforts at cultivation.

In Piemonte in northern Italy, a rare wild white truffle is valued for its exceptional flavour. Truffles can’t be grown commercially or farmed, and consequently, the best ones are incredibly valuable.

But this is the story of the talented, eccentric, lovable people that possess the age-old skills and knowledge to find these elusive fungi. We are immersed deep into the process, from digging to the dinner table, and what makes this film such a festival favourite are the real life characters that dedicate their lives to the hunt.

The truffle hunters’ world is convoluted and political. They squabble among themselves, bargain, pray, curse, and devote themselves to the truffle in a fanatical way. In a world that seems dominated by progress and technology, The Truffle Hunters is a refreshing reprieve. Here nature, dogs, the community, and passion are celebrated with an unassuming charm that will leave you happier.
