Since the release of his first solo album 20 years ago, Wellington singer-songwriter Vorn Colgan has eked out a career as one of those artists who are widely acclaimed by critics and fellow musicians and largely ignored by the wider public.
As part of the Powertool Records 20th Anniversary in 2021, we are ecstatic to bring you a short mini tour featuring the critically acclaimed Vorn band.
Vorn Colgan has been a mainstay of the Powertool roster, having released six albums since 2005. Following on from the hugely successful “Last Chance To See Vorn” tour of 2019/2020, we bring you, yet another chance to experience this phenomenal act. Early 2019, Vorn was diagnosed with stage four cancer, hence the “Last Chance” tagline. Due to a good strong response to treatment, Vorn is well enough to play a few shows to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary. The Vorn Band will be playing a well chosen selection of songs spanning his musical career at Powertool.
The full Vorn catalogue will be available at these shows, along with the brand new tribute album featuring peers re-interpreting his distinctive songwriting. Some of the contributors include Mr Sterile, The Fuzzies, Rough Church, The Holy Loner, George Henderson and Quaint. Be sure to catch this New Zealand living legend in person. “Colgan is one of this country’s greatest songwriters” - Simon Sweetman, Dominion Post
