On a walk and talk with the curator, you’ll tour the current exhibitions Waking Up Slowly: Elizabeth Thomson and Len Lye and Art that Moves.
The exhibition Waking Up Slowly: Elizabeth Thomson and Len Lye is a spirited conversation between two indomitable creative forces – one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary artists, Elizabeth Thomson, and arguably the country’s most internationally acclaimed 20th century artist, Len Lye. Together the artists’ work explores the unconscious and conscious human mind as well as some of the darker nooks and crannies of the scientific world.
Art That Moves captures the essence of Lye’s tangible motion sculpture with a rotating selection of works from the Len Lye Foundation Collection. Audience favourites such as Universe and Blade perform alongside lesser known works such as Albatross and the never-before exhibited Pineal Flutter.
