Session I:

Learn simple crochet skills with Stars start falling exhibiting artist Ani O’Neill. Make your own circular objects: hats, cup-cosies, placemats, pot plant holders, baskets, bottle holders, finger puppets, flowers, etc.

You’ll be able to make pretty much anything that goes in a spiral or rounds using just four stitches: chain, slip-stitch, double and treble! Wools and hooks to learn with are provided. Please bring extra wool if you think you may want to stay in the gallery for the day and need some help starting your own bigger project.

O’Neill’s art practice often references skills and techniques passed down from her Cook Islands grandmother, drawing on the unique histories and forms of knowledge, which are central to art forms like tivaevae, embroidery, sewing and crochet.
