The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and Len Lye Centre are offering an exciting opportunity to join our team in the role of Assistant Curator Contemporary Art and Collections.

The Govett-Brewster / Len Lye Centre is a contemporary art museum of the Pacific, located in Ngāmotu New Plymouth, Taranaki, with an international reputation and reach. Founded on the vision of New Plymouth-born Monica Brewster and her aspirations for an art museum for her city, the Gallery continues to build on its 50 year legacy of presenting meaningful national and international cutting-edge art that explores and celebrates who we are - our people, our place, our communities, our cultures, our histories and our understanding of the world.
Reporting to the Director, this full time position is ideal for a curator interested in working collaboratively to engage our diverse local, national and international audiences, through a wide range of deliverables across the Gallery’s programs. Inclusive of exhibitions, publications, events and collection projects, among many others.
This role requires an understanding of best practice research, exhibition making and interpretation in Aotearoa in regards to contemporary art taonga and an ability to work with external participants and the Gallery team to successfully offer meaningful exhibition and public program experiences.
