Maddie Leach: If you find the good oil let us know
The publication If you find the good oil let us know is the culmination of 2012 Govett-Brewster Aotearoa New Zealand Artist in Residence Maddie Leach's project of the same name.
It unfolds an imaginative narrative of whales, cement, art works, scientists, seafarers and oil companies via a community of letter-writers and readers. Working with the temporary closure of the Govett-Brewster, Leach's project was developed as an opportunity to operate beyond the gallery’s customary exhibition format. In 2013, If you find the good oil let us know also appeared on the facade of the gallery and in the pages of the Taranaki Daily News.
The project was generously supported by Holcim New Zealand Ltd, Taranaki Daily News and Howard's Precast Concrete.
