The mountain known as both Taranaki and Egmont is arguably one of the most consistently represented icons of New Zealand art history. This lavish catalogue, published to mark the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery's 2001 exhibition Te Maunga Taranaki: views of a mountain, investigates the mountain's significance as both cultural and art historical icon. The catalogue features full colour plates of some of the most endearing images of Mt. Taranaki by many of the foremost names in New Zealand art.
