New Plymouth is a city that knows how to live and is quickly becoming recognised as New Zealand's capital of culture.

Choose from international festivals and major sporting events, fancy hotels to backpackers, high-end cuisine to low brow fish and chips, all taking place across a city full of parks, gardens and historic architecture.

We're right on the beach, home to countless surf breaks, close to the airport and in sight of the majestic Mount Taranaki.

For great coffee, you can't go past Ozone Coffee Roasters or Jet Charm and for a cocktail or wine to finish your day, try Snug Lounge or the Hour Glass.

'Len Lye: Pretty good for the 21st Century' brings together Lye's drawings, models and historic documentary footage, giving an insight into his underlying vision, grandness of scale and sense of empathy, which he always saw his sculptures operating at. Tom Kreisler (1938-2002) invited his audiences to find the strange within the mundane, drawing the viewer’s attention to the way simple objects and situations are seen and understood. He celebrated the quirkiness of everyday life by often employing puns, scribbles and a sense of humour. Kreisler lived in New Plymouth for much of his life, teaching at the Boys’ High School, Taranaki Polytechnic and Stratford. He was also very involved with the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, with several of his works held in the Govett-Brewster Collection. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------$45 each, get yours at the Govett-Brewster Shop and our online shop: bit.ly/2f1ncfJ #tomkreisler #govettbrewster
