About
Here Milan Mrkusich uses colour alone to create an impression of form, substance and depth on a flat picture plane. The paint is sponged on, producing subtle variations in tone. The four triangular corner areas close the field, stopping the eye from drifting out of it. The title of the work refers to the Greek word 'meta', meaning change. Mrkusich experimented with his 'corner' paintings through the late 1960s and early 1970s.
