About

To mark the opening of Trần Lương Tầm Tã – Soaked in the long rain, join curator Biljana Ciric for an intimate tour through the exhibition.

The first international survey of Trần Lương, the exhibition delves into the life and work of an artist who has had a significant impact on the development of contemporary art in Vietnam. Ciric will share insights into Lương’s early career as a painter among the Gang of Five, his role in introducing performance art to Vietnam, and his foundational work in establishing initiatives and supporting generations of artists in a context with continued limits on artistic expression.

As well, Ciric will share insights into her curatorial approach to the exhibition, reflecting on her own relationship with the artist, and the years-long process of building the exhibition and its accompanying publication.

Biljana Ciric is an interdependent curator. Ciric was curator of the Pavilion of the Republic of Serbia at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022, where she presented Walking with Water by Vladimir Nikolic. She conceived of the inquiry for the first Trans-Southeast Asian Triennial in Guangzhou, Repetition as a Gesture Towards Deep Listening (2021/2022), and has curated numerous projects internationally. Since 2018, she has led the annual educational programme What could/should curating do? She holds PhD in Curatorial Practice, Monash University, Melbourne.
