Stretch your students’ thinking of art beyond the visual:
Why do artists make multi-sensory art?
What are some challenges in producing and exhibiting multi-sensory art?
How could students reference non-visual sensory sources in their art making?
Direct Bodily Empathy - Sensing Sound is an exciting opportunity for ākonga to explore connections between sound, art and movement. The exhibition includes resonant objects, kinetic sculptures, experimental films and visual music, bringing together historical works by Len Lye and new creations by contemporary artists from Aotearoa and beyond.
The exhibition’s dancing colours and kinetic sculptures will energise students to challenge their thinking, prompt discussion and get experimental with mark making. Contact Gallery kaiako to shape your visit content to include relevant learning experiences.
Art Music Fusion
Art Teachers, have you considered teaming up with the music teacher to share ideas for a learning collaboration between your art and music students? Could Direct Bodily Empathy - Sensing Sound be a catalyst for this or can the Art Gallery facilitate this in other ways?
Please contact Gallery kaiako 067590858 to discuss ideas.
