Scholarship for young Taranaki artists opens
The 2026 George Mason Visual Arts Scholarship is now open for applications, supporting a Taranaki high school student to pursue a creative career.
The scholarship is open to any of the region’s high school students with wawata (aspirations) to study visual arts, ngā toi, architecture or design and visual communication at a New Zealand Aotearoa tertiary institution in 2027.
Worth $3,300, it is awarded to one student per year.
The scholarship is delivered by the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery | Len Lye Centre, and is generously funded by the George Mason Endowment Gift, held in trust with the Taranaki Foundation.
Applicants must currently be Taranaki residents and studying a visual art subject, ngā toi, or DVC at a Taranaki secondary school, kura kaupapa or Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Taranaki residents).
