About
Ronnie van Hout works across a wide range of media, including photography, film, painting and textile works.
For the photographs from the series 'Multiplying personalities', van Hout constructs tableaux using small sets with backdrops and kitset models. The resulting photographs, which have the indistinct quality of B-grade movie stills, are overlaid with text and reprinted. There is an ironic juxtaposition in the images of social control, such as observation towers or military helicopters, overlaid with texts suggesting pleasure or excitement.
